KCVC Updates and Upcoming Events

KCVC Members – I hope this note finds you well. I am extra motivated today following a meeting with one of our corporate partners that will help us expand to dozens of new corporations. Furthermore, we will be starting conversations on how we can replicate our “Boots in Cubes” event to manufacturing verticals. This helps address many of our members that want to continue with their trade skills and round out the capabilities of the KCVC network!

As you saw in February, our corporate footprint continues to expand with amazing HR resources ready to assist. Because of that growth, we have a lot of information of upcoming events that we want to share.

  • March 30th – Black & Veatch: Trade for our Troops (first attachment) – a reminder that B&V Business Line Leaders & Recruiters will be present to discuss career openings with current, transitioning, and retired Military professionals. Click here to register: https://www.cvent.com/c/express/f98a7407-23a1-4ddc-ab31-6117a00b1bf2.

  • April 6th – Soldier For Life: Job and Education Fair (second attachment) – this event will be held at the Frontier Conference Center (FCC) on Ft. Leavenworth from 10:00 – 1:00.

  • April 6th – UMB Bank: The Inside Scoop ( third attachment) – once you’re done with the SFL event, make sure you check out UMB’s event from 4:00 - 6:30. This will be a great opportunity to meet with UMB leaders and learn more about their culture and corporate dynamics!

We want to know how you’re doing – the transition from military to corporate life can be challenging. As a reminder, the KCVC resources are not a “one-time shot”. Our team will be reaching out to you individually in the very near future to make sure you are receiving everything you need from our resources. Furthermore, if you have been hired, we want to hear that too! So please let us know!

Thank You Rebecca Christie – As March comes to a close, Rebecca Christie, VP of Human Resource at UMB Bank will be retiring! Rebecca has been an incredible supporter of the KCVC. She has reviewed several of your resumes, performed dozens of mock interviews and mentoring sessions. We are extremely grateful for Rebecca’s contribution. Fortunately, Rebecca’s retirement does not mean she will be stepping away from the KCVC. We’re going to give her a few months off and then welcome her back as an advisor J.

In closing, we are always working on ways to create the best experience possible for our members. Please don’t hesitate to reach out or leverage additional resources. Have a great weekend!
