KCVC Weekly Update
KCVC Partners – I hope everyone had a great week! Continuing with our theme of “hearing from our sponsors” I have included an awesome write up from Steve Brown, Director of Corporate Security at Burns & McDonnell. Personally, Iwas amazed at all the opportunity and responsibility within this area. A special thanks to Steve for providing this to our members!
Last week I talked about some of the changes being implemented on our website. Specifically how we are allowing new members to sign up for all of the KCVC resources during their initial registration. However we still have a gap for our “legacy” members. If you signed up for our program before this week, then individual sign ups for mock interviews and mentoring are required. We were unable to capture your preferences ahead of this change.
We recently received an e-mail from the Bank of Labor about an immediate position to fill. The job description for theTechnology Support Specialist is attached. Check out their website if you are interested in applying.
The second job opening is a Project Manager role at Sprint with the following suggestions from the hiring manager: Biggest recommendation I have for candidates is to don’t just throw a resume out there. Resume quality should be focused on removing military jargon without enough to explain to corporate American why their military skills make them a match for a corporate job. Lastly, we are preparing to open our Boots In Cubes session for February. I will send another reminder out once registration is open. We’re looking forward to hosting everyone again!
Please, please, please make sure we have your most up to date resume. We are preparing to send a list of our members out to every corporation within the KCVC and we don’t want to be misrepresenting. Thank you for your membership!
